Hi, I'm Hal Nathan. 

I'm a writer, director, producer and actor, and have two new short films currently in post production. I've produced a dozen short films, documentaries and promotional videos and acted in as many.  I've crewed in over 20 productions, serving as: AD, AC, interviewer, gaffer, grip, script supervisor, podcast production, and editing.   My work in feature film includes production assistant work, including: supporting cinematographers, focus pullers, grips,  ADs, and on screen talent.  

In addition to writing my own works, I assist filmmakers with their scripts including story development, dialogue and editing (both script and post production).  Currently, I am a writer/producer for the nationally distributed news and public affairs podcast titled "The Good Government Show." I also do production work for PXP studios (Publicis Groupe). 

Beyond film, my experience includes working on Broadway as an assistant to producers developing new shows, both dramatic and musical.  We worked closely with writers and composers putting together table reads and showcases. 

I work regularly on commercial shoots (including a 2025 super bowl commercial) and write for a podcast about local government success stories around the country.  I also work in photography and graphic design, most recently for college sports and local political campaigns developing brand identity. 

I graduated from Oberlin College in 2023, where I majored in cinema studies, minored in creative writing, and completed the interdisciplinary business concentration.  My studies in film and writing covered both fiction and journalism/documentary.  I was also an NCAA lacrosse player (earned CSC Academic All-District Team honors) and a John Frederick Oberlin Scholar.  I recently completed the post graduate filmmaking program at Prague Film School (PFS) in the Czech Republic.  I am based just outside of New York City in Rye.
